6867 Iris Circle

6867 Iris Circle was built in 1923 by physician Theodore Wright with the address originally listed as 6827 Iris Circle as documented on a 1922 building permit. Dubbed the “Theodore Wright House”, the 2,204 square foot two story residence has three bedroom and three bathrooms. As this property is part of the Whitley Heights historic preservation, it has maintained much of its original value. In the 1950s, the kitchen was moved from the rear of the house to the front and 1988 a greenhouse was added.

Theodore Roosevelt (1904-1988) and his wife, Rose, both pictured below, resided in the residence until the mid-1930s. His father died in August of 1924 and was editor-in-chief of “The Philadelphia Record” from 1877 to 1912.

6867 Iris Circle has been home to celebrities in the last few decades. From 2001-2004 Rose McGowan owned this property. McGowan lived here while filming “Charmed” in 2001. She also starred in “Monkeybone” in 2001. She moved here in 2001 after ending a 3 ½ year relationship with rocker Marilyn Manson.

From 2004-2005, actress Rachel Bilson lived here while she starred in the television series, “The OC”, which aired from 2003 through 2007. She dated co-star Adam Brody from 2003 to 2006. In 2004, she starred in an episode of “That 70s Show”. In 2005, she sold the house for $1.3 million.

From 2005-2008 , actress Busy Phillips and director Marc Silverstein lived at 6867 Iris Circle. They sold the property in December of 2008 for $1.07 at a significant loss. Busy was pregnant and they needed a bigger home. The couple, who married in 2007, bought 2015 Whitley Avenue and moved when their first child was born.

From 2008-2016 this home was owned by actress Ginnifer Godwin (aka Melissa C. Goodwin per a building permit from this property). She filmed “He’s Just Not That Into You” and six other films while living here. She also was in “Big Love” which aired from 2006-11. She dated Joey Kern and became engaged in 2010, but ended the engagement in May of 2011. She dated co-star Josh Dallas in 2011 and they were married in 2014. (Melissa C Goodwin). When she bought the house, the owner was listed as “In God We Trust” for her privacy. She sold the property in 2016 for $1.6 million.

While residing at 6867 Iris Circle, Goodwin was featured in Elle magazine in 2013. According to the 2013 article, “She chose the airy two-bedroom house in Whitley Heights, a Hollywood Hills enclave where Charlie Chaplin once resided, for its seclusion, but also because of its only-in-Tinseltown bachelorette-pad pedigree: Goodwin bought the place in 2007 from Busy Philipps, and previous tenants include Rachel Bilson and Rose McGowan.”
