6680 Emmet Terrace

6680 Emmet Terrace is perhaps one of the oldest properties built in Whitley Heights in 1919. The California bungalow, designed by John J. Franenfelder, was built for owner Mary Campbell. The two story home has a downslope on Emmet Terrace and is a gated property. The 1,080 square foot residence contains three bedrooms and one bathroom.

The property remained with Mrs. Campbell until the late 1930s. MGM studio executive Joseph J. Cohn rented the bungalow in 1924. Mr. Cohn, who remained with MGM for several decades, ended up living at a 6,480 square foot home located at 906 Bedford Drive in the 1940s.

Perhaps the most notable resident was Cass Coty who bought the residence in the mid-1980s and remained in her family until it was sold in 2013. Cass worked in the film industry in various jobs including; actress, set director, costume/wardrobe department, casting director, production manager, producer, and assistant to the producer. Her first job was acting as a “female prostitute” in the 1978 production of The Boss’ Son. Although this movie did not have any notable main stars, actresses Rita Moreno and Piper Laurie had bit parts. Cass worked in the wardrobe department for the 1988 film of Clara’s Heart starring Whoppi Goldberg. Cass was also an assistant to the producers in the 1991 movie, Soapdish, starring Sally Field and Kevin Kline. Cass passed away in 2021 at the age of 70.

The new owners have been renovating the property and hired HG Design to remodel the exterior residence and the landscaping.
